Two Filipinos who were earlier included in the American Cable News Network’s roster of heroes are vying for the title of “CNN Superhero.”
2009 Hero of the Year Efren Peñaflorida and 2011 Hero of the Year Robin Lim were among the only five nominees for CNN Superhero, which marks the 10th year of the annual tribute.
Peñaflorida, an educator and social worker, was hailed for his advocacy of educating out-of-school youths through his “kariton” or pushcart classes.
Lim, a Filipino-American midwife, was lauded for her work in nonprofit health clinics in Indonesia which help impoverished women to deliver their babies safely. She has relatives in Baguio City.
Aside from the two, other past CNN heroes vying for the “Superhero” title are Pushpa Basnet of Nepal, Liz McCartney of Los Angeles, and Chad Pregracke of Illinois.
The public can vote up to five times a day per method on CNN Facebook, Twitter, or at https://edition.cnn.com/SPECIALS/cnn.heroes/vote/. YG/JE
