Duterte to meet Malaysian PM Najib to discuss security, piracy

KUALA LUMPUR – President Rodrigo Duterte would be meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Prime Minister’s office here.

At the meeting Duterte and Najib were expected to discuss issues such as security in the Malacca Straits amid the Abu Sayyaf kidnapping and piracy activities.

Najib would also be treating Duterte and other officials to a state dinner in Putra Jaya, the Malaysian center of government.

After several more activities involving the Malaysian Prime Minister, which were expected to last until late evening, Duterte will depart for the Philippines.

Duterte has embarked on foreign trips mainly to Asean and Asian countries during the past four months of his presidency.

But on November 22, his first trips outside of Asia will start as he was scheduled to fly to New Zealand before attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting in Lima, Peru. CDG
