Duterte arrives in Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia—President Rodrigo Duterte arrived Wednesday night here for a two-day official visit.

Duterte arrived with his 12-member official delegation at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Seppang District at 6:04 p.m.

The President is on his 8th Asian trip on Wednesday as he makes a two-day official visit to a “brother nation.”

The President is expected to have a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and will meet around 1,800 overseas Filipino workers here on Wednesday night.

More than 150,000 Filipinos is currently residing in this country.

Among the topics to be discussed include Malaysia’s involvement in the Philippine government’s peace talks with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, security issues in the Sulu-Sulawesi Sea, counter-terrorism, and the Philippines chairmanship of Asean in 2017.

The President’s delegation includes Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto Yasay Jr., Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon, Peace Process Secretary Jesus Dureza, PNP chief Gen. Ronald dela Rosa, Sen. Alan Cayetano, Presidential Adviser for OFWs Abdullah Mama-o, Mindanao Development Authority Chair Datu Abul Khayr Alonto, , Director General of the National Intelligence Coordinating Council Agency Alex Paul Monteagudo and Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia Jose Eduardo Malaya III.
