Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Dir. Gen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa will embark on a foreign trip anew to join President Rodrigo Duterte in his visit to China.

Dela Rosa said the President himself asked the police chief to join him when he visits China on Tuesday. Duterte is expected to discuss the issue of illegal drugs with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

At a press conference at Camp Crame on Monday, dela Rosa, who had just arrived from an official trip in Thailand, discussed the possibility of China police identifying the drug lords there who supply illegal drugs to the Philippines.

Once the Chinese drug lords have been identified, the police chief joked he would challenge them to a boxing match.

“Baka identify na ng China police ‘yung mga drug lord doon at pagdating ko doon, meron ng boxing ring at magsuntukan na lang kami doon,” he quipped.

(The China police might identify the drug lords there and when I get there, there will be a boxing ring where we’ll pummel each other.)

Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella earlier said the President is set to visit drug rehabilitation centers in China.

Apart from dela Rosa, Abella said around 500 business executives are also expected to join the presidential trip./rga
