SAN FRANCISCO — Singer Maddie B has a full plate these days, performing at the Alameda County Fair and in August she’s expected at the Pacifica Festival at the Sand’s Regency Casino in Reno, Nevada.

The San Francisco Bay Area has recently become Maddie’s stage. Maddie said, “Growing up as a Fil-Am, I thought it was pretty cool. I like performing at the Filipino festivals and special events! They support me a lot. I was even able to sing the National Anthem for the Oakland A’s on Filipino Heritage Night a few years ago.”

Born in Los Angeles, she remembers her childhood as a busy one, always on the go and traveling with her parents to Hawaii and Disneyland. Her family relocated to the Bay Area when Maddie was three to be closer to relatives.

Singing since she was a little girl, Maddie didn’t start getting serious about music until she was ten. She signed up with a vocal trainer to take her singing farther and hasn’t looked back. Currently, Maddie is a student of Kelly Burge in her hometown of Pleasanton. Her music idols range from the likes of Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift.

When Maddie was around ten she welcomed a sister, named Katelyn, and a brother, named DJ. Even with their big age gaps, Maddie still finds time to hang out with her siblings when practicing her music.

“My parents are both huge supporters of what I do! My dad always helps me with my music and my mom helps me with all my educational needs. My brother and sisters are my biggest cheerleaders. They even perform with me sometimes!” said Maddie.

“I love the energy when I perform. The crowd seems to really enjoy my song choices. I always give it my all to make the event a success,” she added.

Maddie has begun writing her own songs. CONTRIBUTED

Maddie is also in the process of writing her own original songs and will release some new material soon. She finds that writing her originals takes a lot of time and effort, and she has dedicated the last year to pouring her heart and soul into her lyrics. With summer in full swing, she is busy performing and writing more often.

Maddie has been spending some time in the recording studio lately. It amazes her when she steps into the studio and sees all the recording equipment. One of the best feelings for her is when she finishes recording. Maddie is ready to take her music to a whole new level to finish “the year of strong.”
