Barred by BI: 500 pedophiles
Over 500 pedophiles have been barred from entering the country in the past two years, according to data from the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
BI records showed that of the 514 foreigners convicted of sex crimes, 400—or 77 percent—were American nationals, said BI spokesperson Tonette Mangrobang.
Eighty were Australians, 29 were British nationals and the remaining five were of various nationalities.
BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said the sex offenders were intercepted at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport as part of the agency’s intensified campaign against sexual abuse of children by foreigners. With a report from Toni Bellen
