Drug raps filed vs 3 Taiwanese

The Department of Justice (DOJ) gave the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) up to Friday to submit the result of its examination on the drugs seized in separate raids in Parañaque and Las Piñas that yielded about P1.5-billion worth of high grade shabu (methamphetamine) and raw materials used for its manufacture.

During the inquest proceedings of Taiwanese Chun-Ming Lin, Shih-Ming Tsai and Kuo-Chan Cheng, DOJ inquest prosecutors also told PDEA not to wait for the trial to submit other evidence.

Tsai and Cheng are facing a complaint for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 specifically Section 10 (Manufacture or delivery of equipment, instrument, apparatus and other paraphernalia for dangerous drugs, Section 11 for possession of dangerous drugs) and Section 15 for use of dangerous drugs.

Lin, meanwhile is facing a complaint for violation of Sections 11(possession) and 26 (conspiracy) of the same law.

Tsai and Kuo were arrested last July 5 at a house in Philam Life Village Barangay (village) Pamplona 2 in Las Piñas City where authorities confiscated 46.85 grams of shabu and 263.08 grams of brownish substance with traces of shabu.

Included in the seized items were sacks of Sodium Acetate, Barium Sulfate, caustic soda flakes, plastic bags containing coffee filders, dippers, erlen meyer flasks and chiller.

The two also tested positive for shabu.

On the other hand, Lin was arrested also last July 5 at a house in Executive Villagers Society, BF Homes, Phase 5 in Parañaque City.

Authorities confiscated 6,986.4 grams of shabu and 24 big boxes containing 2,554 small boxes of Chloroephedrine, an intermediate and possible contaminant formed when methamphetamine is manufactured using ephedrine or pseudoephedrine as precursors.

The three respondents opted not to respond to the complaint filed against them.
