35 Filipinos to pursue post-graduate studies in EU
Thirty-five Filipino students were given the opportunity to pursue their post-graduate studies in countries under the European Union (EU) after winning scholarships in EU’s Erasmus+ program.
In a statement, the EU said the scholarship would allow students to take MA and Ph D courses in different universities across EU member states, for them “to benefit from the academic expertise and culture of more than one university.”
“This programme gives life changing opportunities for Filipino students to experience living the European culture, learning European languages and being integrated into the European society for one to two years,” the EU said.
Erasmus +, an international academic mobility program, covers air fare to Europe, tuition, and a monthly allowance between P55,000 and P138,000.
In a reception on Monday, EU Ambassador to the Philippines Franz Jessen urged outgoing Erasmus+ students to be “ambassadors of goodwill and agents of change” in strengthening ties between EU and the Philippines.
More than 200 students and lecturers have benefitted from Erasmus+ since 2004. YG/rga
