DAVAO CITY – Calling it un-Islamic, the National Ulama Conference of the Philippines condemned the beheading of Canadian national Robert Hall by his Abu Sayyaf captors in Sulu on Monday afternoon.
Alih Aiyub, national secretary general of the NUCP, told the Inquirer that the killing of Hall after the 3 p.m. deadline for the payment of ransom expired, was an inhuman act.
“We from NUCP strongly condemn this terrorism. This is un-Islamic, inhuman, and condemnable,” Aiyub said.
The NUCP also slammed local politicians for allegedly not doing their part in working with security forces to ensure the safe release of the victims.
“We are saddened, too, by the insensitivity of the government, especially the LGUs from regional to provincial to municipal to barangay, and their lack of cooperation with the PNP and the AFP to eliminate this terrorist group,” Aiyub said.
The ASG confirmed that they beheaded Hall on Monday afternoon.

Hall, his Filipina girlfriend Maritess Flor, Canadian John Ridsdel and Norwegian resort manager Kjartan Sekkinstad were taken from a marina in the Island Garden City of Samal in Davao del Norte on Sept. 21 last year.
Ridsdel was beheaded on April 23. JE/rga
