Canadian nabbed in Makati for drug pushing
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has arrested a Canadian national wanted for drug pushing and criminal activities in the United States.
BI Commissioner Ronaldo Geron said Lachlan Scott, 58, was arrested Tuesday by members of the BI Fugitive Search Unit at his residence in Makati City.
A mission order to arrest Scott was issued upon the request of the Canadian and American embassies in Manila.
Geron said Scott will be deported to US to stand trial before a district court in Minnesota for violating the US federal food, drug and cosmetic act; introduction of misbranded drugs into interstate commerce; conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud; and unlawful distribution and dispensing of a controlled substance.
BI’s Fugitive Search Unit head Atty. Jose Carlitos Licas said Scott will be deported as soon as the bureau secures the necessary clearances.
Licas said the fugitive is now an undocumented alien as a result of the cancellation of his passport by the Canadian government.
