Back in his home country, Razak faces calls for his resignation over an alleged mismanagement of the state fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad, of which at least $600 million were allegedly deposited to the Prime Minister’s private bank account.

He also faces US inquiry over dubious property purchases in the United States through shell companies that belong to Najib’s stepson Riza Aziz, as well as other real estate connected to a close family friend, businessman Low Taek Jho. The use of shell companies makes identification of property owners more difficult. IDL
