PH calls for restraint as tensions mount in mosque in Jerusalem

The Philippines has joined the international community in the call for maximum restraint among all parties amid growing tensions in the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the Old City of Jerusalem.

“Recognizing the importance of the area of Al-Aqsa Mosque to Islamic, Christian and Jewish faiths, the Philippines urges all parties to act responsibly and exercise maximum restraint to prevent the situation from worsening,” the Department of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Friday.

The Philippines issued the statement following the heated confrontation between Palestinians and Israeli forces this week at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound which resulted in fighting across the West Bank.
