Filipina immigrant killed in Louisiana murder-suicide
DALY CITY, California – A Filipina immigrant was shot and killed in a murder-suicide June 16 in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.
Indra Marie Quisido-Sarong Jones, 36, was shot and killed by her husband, Avery Jones reportedly after a heated argument. Both were found dead with gunshot wounds, reported ABC News affiliate KATC.com.
Sarong-Jones had come to the U.S. from the Philippines to try to create a better life for herself. Shocked friends described her as a “good person.” She “tried so hard to have a good life,” said her friend Morchel Elkins.
Jones came over from the Philippines about five years ago. She was a student at Louisiana State University-Eunice. She also worked full-time at a gas station, and sent the money back to her family in the Philippines.
Friends said Sarong-Jones’ family, whom she had just recently visited, is “devastated.”
