Fil-Am is world’s second youngest billionaire–Forbes
MANILA, Philippines—A Filipino-American man is the second youngest billionaire in the world in 2015, according to a report by Forbes.
Bobby Murphy, 26, cofounder of mobile application Snapchat, is the world’s second youngest billionaire with a net worth of $1.5 billion.
His cofounder, Snapchat’s 24 year-old chief executive officer Evan Spiegel, is named the world’s youngest billionaire.
According to Forbes, Murphy, whose mother emigrated from the Philippines, grew up in Berkeley, California.
Forbes said Snapchat “had received new funding offers at an eye-popping valuation at $19 billion.”
In 2011, Murphy and Spiegel created Picaboo, which they later rebranded as Snapchat.
Murphy, Forbes said, has a stake of at least 15 percent.
Forbes quoted Murphy as saying he and Spiegel “weren’t cool” in college so “we tried to build things to be cool.”
