AFP: Laude camp used deception to get in Camp Aguinaldo
MANILA, Philippines — The camp of Jennifer Laude used “deception” to get into Camp Aguinaldo where US Marine Private First Class Joseph Scott Pemberton is detained, the military said Monday.
“They were not allowed to enter Gate 3 [of Camp Aguinaldo] so they used another gate [Gate 6],” Lieutenant Colonel Harold Cabunoc, Armed Forces of the Philippines Public Affairs Office chief, told reporters.
He said the German fiancé of Laude, Marc Sueselbeck, was initially denied at the first gate because he was a foreigner. But he hid inside the vehicle at their next attempt to enter the camp.
The spokesman appeared certain that Sueselbeck was intentionally concealed by the Laude camp when they entered the military base.
The Laude camp, the mother and sister of Laude, as well as their lawyers, tried to get near the detention facility of Pemberton last Oct. 22. Laude’s fiancé and sister Marilou, climbed the fence in order to get closer to Pemberton but failed. The confrontation lasted for about 30 minutes.
The AFP protested the actions of Laude camp, and requested Sueselbeck to be deported and declared as an “undesirable alien.” The German, when he was about to leave the Philippines on Sunday night, was barred from leaving pending his case.
