MANILA, Philippines – Justice Secretary Leila De Lima on Monday assured that the Department of Justice will allow “Barbie,” the witness in the death of Filipino transgender Jeffrey “Jennifer” Laude to attend the Senate hearing.

Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago earlier asked that the witness appear and testify before the Senate.

“Yes, we will produce said witness,” De Lima said Monday.

“Barbie,’ was with the victim when they met Private First Class Joseph Scott Pemberton of the US Marine Corps at a bar in Olongapo.

“Barbie” is already under the custody of the Witness Protection Program while he’s application is still under process.
