Sinaloa drug cartel member ordered arrested

MANILA, Philippines—The Lipa City Regional Trial Court Branch 12 on Wednesday ordered the arrest of Jorge Torres, believed to be a member of Sinaloa drug cartel.

Torres is facing a case for violations of sections 6 and 11 of Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and Section 28 of RA 10591 or Illegal possession of firearms.

Torres is the lessee of the ranch owned by former Batangas Governor Antonio Leviste who is at the National Bilibid Prison for the killing of his aide.

Early this year, members of the Philippine National Police’s Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (AIDSOTF) raided the ranch and confiscated P400 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.
