4 Chinese in P7B drug bust face raps

MANILA, Philippines—Government authorities on Monday filed charges before the Department of Justice against four Chinese nationals arrested in two separate raids in Pampanga last week that led to the seizure of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) worth P7 billion.

Facing a case for violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act are Jason Lee, Willie Yap, Neri Tan, all natives of Xiamen, China while Ying Ying Hiang or “Sophia Lee” is from Fujian.

The raid was conducted last Friday following the issuance of a search warrant by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 78. The joint team are composed of members from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police-Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (PNP-AIDSOTF).

The raid was conducted at a warehouse in Richtown and Greenville Subdivisions; the operations reportedly yielded P7 billion worth (street value) of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu).

One hundred eighty-five kilos of shabu were reportedly seized from the Greenville raid, and 276 kilos from the Richtown raid.

Raw materials were also seized and are now subject to laboratory examination.

The Chinese nationals are now under the custody of the PDEA main office.
