NEW YORK, New York — Filipino-American lawyer Jhanice V. Domingo was sworn in as president of the Asian Pacific American Lawyers Association of New Jersey during the organization’s 17th annual gala on June 26.
Domingo, a counsel with Einhorn, Harris, Ascher, Barbarito, & Frost, P.C., will serve for a year at the helm of APALA-NJ, the largest specialty bar association that represents Asian and Pacific American attorneys throughout New Jersey.
Born in Manila, Domingo has resided in New Jersey since moving to the US at age nine.
She received degrees in psychology and women’s studies from Boston College in 1999 and her JD from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2002. Domingo is fluent in Tagalog.
She is the daughter of Jovita and Jose Domingo Jr. of Pampanga and Nueva Ecija, respectively.
Prior to her APALA-NJ presidency, Domingo served on the organization’s executive board as president-elect (2013-2014), vice president (2012-2013) and treasurer (2011-2012).
In addition, she leads APALA-NJ’s Judicial & Prosecutorial Appointments Committee in furthering its mission to promote diversity in both the judiciary and government.
She serves as vice president of the legal section of the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce, a member of the benefit committee of the Korean American Family Service Center, and a member of the public advocacy committee of the National Filipino American Lawyers Association.
She is also a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and its Diversity Committee, the Bergen County Bar Association and the Morris County Bar Association.
