MANILA, Philippines — A Korean national was arrested in Pasay City on Sunday night, after hurting a fellow Korean who was asking for the P2.8 million cash money that the former borrowed.

South Korean Park So Hung is currently under the custody of the Pasay City police after he allegedly assaulted 39-year-old Hwang Jeonga, also from South Korea, when the two crossed paths in front of the Remington Hotel, New Port City in Villamor at around 9 p.m.

According to the report signed by Senior Superintendent Florencio Ortilla, the Pasay City police chief, the suspect owed his female friend Jeonga about P2.8 million, an amount, which Hung claimed would be used for the business he was putting up.

Authorities learned that Hung promised to pay last month but he failed to do so.

The suspect, police said, has been staying at a condominium in Pasay City while Jeonga has been billeted at a Malate, Manila, residential building.

In her statement to the police, Jeonga said he never heard from Hung again after last month and that she already thought that the suspect ran away with her money.

But it was not until on Sunday evening when Jeonga chanced upon Hung while she was strolling in front of the Pasay hotel.

Investigators said the victim approached Hung and demanded that he pay his debt.

But according to Ortilla, Hung got angry with Jeonga’s approach so he strangled the victim with his hands, slapped her several times and punched her on the right forearm.

Responding police officers said the victim was able to shout for help and some civilians tried to stop Hung from inflicting more harm to Jeonga.

The police said the victim was fine after the attack and that Hung would be charged with physical injury.
