MANILA, Philippines? The first overseas Filipino worker who tested positive for the Influenza A(H1N1) virus was monitored in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Friday.
In its report to the DFA, the Philippine embassy in Riyadh said the OFW is a Filipina nurse who is now confined at the same hospital in Riyadh where she is employed.
She arrived in the Saudi capital, where she and husband are based, last May 29 from Manila via Bahrain.
The DFA said the Philippine embassy is extending proper assistance to her and closely monitoring her case.
In Manila, the DFA has notified the Department of Health?s National Epidemiology Center, which is monitoring cases of A(H1N1). The DOH will trace the Filipina?s movements, the places she went to, and the individuals she interacted with in the Philippines before returning to Riyadh.
