MANILA, Philippines -- A team of probers from the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) left for Hong Kong at 4:50 p.m. on Monday to get the statements of two of the survivors of the August 23 hostage-taking incident in Manila.
Airport officials said Senior State Prosecutor Cielito Celi of the DOJ, lawyer Denielito Llusis of the NBI?s Death Investigation Division and Perla Landicho of the NBI Forensics Division boarded a Cebu Pacific flight bound for Hong Kong at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.
The team was sent to Hong Kong by the Incident Investigation and Review Committee (IIRC) to get the statements of the two survivors of the hostage-taking.
The two survivors, citing psychological trauma, declined from being questioned by investigators in Manila, right after the hostage-taking in which eight Chinese tourists from Hong Kong were killed.
The two survivors are apparently now willing to give Manila investigators their depositions about the hostage-taking.
