MANILA, Philippines?Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo met with his counterparts from Indonesia and Pakistan at the sidelines of the Special Non-Aligned Movement Ministerial Meeting (SNAMMM) and reaffirmed their commitments to pursuing peace and development in Asia, particularly against terrorism.

Stressing the importance of interfaith dialogue as a joint initiative in the region, Romulo and Indonesia?s Foreign Minister R.M. Marty Natelagawa renewed their commitment to the Mindanao peace process.

During the meeting, Natelagawa described Indonesia as a ?very constructive? partner in the Philippines? peace processes with both the Moro National Liberation Front and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.

The Philippines and Indonesia, which are interfaith dialogue partners, have supported each other in the hosting of Regional Interfaith Dialogues in Yogjakarta in 2004 and in Cebu in 2006.

On counter-terrorism, Romulo said collaboration between the two countries must continue as the ?fusing of intelligence resources? has rendered extremist and terrorist elements ineffective.

For his part, Natelagawa said ?agile? cooperation is needed against ?trans boundary? terrorism.

The Philippines and Pakistan reaffirmed the importance of further broadening cooperation and to further strengthen collaboration in the fields of agriculture and pharmaceuticals.

In a related development, Romulo and Pakistan Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nawabada Malik Ahmad Khan moved toward ?greater collaboration?on mutually beneficial endeavours? in the fields of agriculture and pharmaceuticals.
