MEXICO—Marina “Mars” Salandanan, 83, literally took a leap on her birthday last November 7, when she went parasailing while on a Princess cruise in Mexico.
Salandanan, widow of the late Jose Salandanan, a pilot for Acoje Mines Company who died in a plane crash in 1963 in Mt. Apoy in the Philippines, is a resident of San Francisco, California.
She is a mother five daughters and a son.
One of her daughters, Pinky Quispel-Salandanan, a long-time resident in the Netherlands, e-mailed these pictures and article to Munting Nayon News Magazine.
With 18 grandchildren, the parasailing widow will be having her first great-grandchild from her eldest granddaughter, come spring 2010.
