MANILA, Philippines—British citizens here will have to register online to renew their passports, the British embassy in Manila said in a statement.
Passport operations of the British government are being reorganized worldwide, and this may cause some disruptions to issuing passports in the country, said Consul Joanne Finnamore-Crorkin.
"There are going to be significant changes in the way British passports will be issued in the Philippines. That's why we're urging all British nationals to go online to the British embassy website and register using our Locate service so that we can pass on details about these changes," she said.
"If we can find you, we can help you," she said.
Finnamore-Crorkin said those who are registered with the British embassy may also get updates on issues relevant to the British community in the Philippines.
"If there's a typhoon where you are, British embassy staff would be able to pinpoint your location and provide you with assistance. If there's a security problem in your area, embassy staff can help with possible evacuation. All you need to do is sign up," she said.
