MANILA, Philippines? The European Union on Monday condemned the nuclear weapon test conducted by North Korea.
In a statement e-mailed to media outfits, Javier Solana, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), said the test, which came shortly after North Korea launched a long-range missile last April, threatens regional peace and security in northeast Asia.
"I condemn the nuclear weapon test conducted today by North Korea. This act is a flagrant violation by North Korea of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1718,? Solana said.
?These irresponsible acts by North Korea warrant a firm response by the international community. The European Union will be in contact with its partners to discuss appropriate measures,? he added.
