MANILA, Philippines -- The Department of Foreign Affairs on Saturday belied a CNN report that a Filipina was killed in the Mumbai attacks.

In a text message, DFA spokesman Claro Cristobal said: “Our embassy in New Delhi received confirmation from India’s Ministry of External Affairs that there has been no confirmed Filipino fatality in the Mumbai incidents.”

“The only Filipino confirmed by MEA to have been injured was the one we reported about, and he has since left Mumbai to return to his home base,” he added.

Earlier, the DFA said five Filipinos -- two chefs at the Oberoi hotel, their wives, and one on a business trip -- were affected by the attacks.
