MANILA, Philippines -- The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has ordered the deportation of a Filipino-American woman wanted in the United States for murder and robbery.
Immigration Commissioner Marcelino Libanan said Lilani Montealegre Tomines, 46, is subject to a summary deportation order that the bureau’s board of commissioners issued last October 10 for being an undocumented and undesirable alien.
Tomines is wanted for trial before a court in Las Vegas, Nevada that issued an arrest warrant against her on charges of conspiracy to commit robbery, murder, burglary, and use of a deadly weapon.
A separate warrant of arrest was also issued against Tomines by the US District Court in Nevada on charges of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
The US government sought the BI’s help in locating the fugitive.
Tomines was arrested last October 10 at her house along Kennon Road in Baguio City. She also failed to present travel documents.
She was brought to Manila and detained at the Bicutan immigration jail, where she remains while awaiting her flight to the US.
Tomines had been hiding in the country since she arrived in Manila May last year on a one-year Balikbayan (returning national) visa.
But she failed to file for extension when her visa expired.
Libanan said even if she decided to renew her visa, it would have been useless because the US government had already cancelled her passport.
