MANILA, Philippines -- The embassy of Saudi Arabia here has deferred the implementation of the so-called unified contract, recruitment, industry consultant Emmanuel Geslani said Monday.
The new rule, which was supposed to be implemented starting Monday, September 1, is opposed by various groups who say it would allow contract substitution.
Quoting recruitment industry leader Victor Fernandez, Geslani said the deferment came on the formal request of Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo and Senate President Manuel Villar, upon consultation with Labor Secretary Marianito Roque and Philippine Overseas Employment Administration Administrator Rosalinda Baldoz.
