BACOLOD CITY ? Fourteen elementary pupils got sick after eating repacked biscuits in barangay Lopez Jaena, Murcia town, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday, health and police officials said Thursday.
Dr. Raymond Maguad, Murcia Municipal Health Officer, said the children, aged 10 to 14 years, all students of the Lopez Jaena Elementary School in Murcia, vomited and experienced dizziness and abdominal pains after eating the biscuits.
Police detained vendor Teresa Siplao, who investigation showed had purchased the repacked biscuits from the Libertad public market in Bacolod City. SPO1 Jovito Tejado, investigator of the Murcia Police Station, said the biscuits seized from her were taken to the Bureau of Food and Drugs for testing.
The victims were treated at the Murcia Municipal Health Clinic and most of them have fully recovered. INQUIRER
