2 teeners nabbed for cabbie’s death

A taxi driver with stab wounds in his body was found dead inside his taxicab in barangay Apas, Cebu City on Thursday night.

Two teenagers were arrested as suspects in the robbing and killing of Roel Aguilo Sagot, 38, of sitio Mahayag, barangay San Isidro Talisay City.

Sagot had stab wounds in the neck and left hand when he was found inside a Kristoff taxi with plate number GXG-770.

The driver?s wife later told police that his wallet was missing.

Julian Ken Salabao Paca, 18, and his 16-year-old friend were arrested after police saw them running away from the taxi.

Police received a call that a taxi was repeatedly blowing its horn on Wright Bros. Street. Two youths were also seen disembarking from the taxi.

PO2 Ricardo Hisoler and PO1 Castor Gracia of the Cebu City Mobile Group and SPO2 Marlon Mendoza and the Crimes Against Person and Property responded to the alarm.

Three policemen arrived at 11:50 p.m. and spotted the two teenagers about 50 meters from the cab.

The youths tried to run but the 16-year-old boy was arrested. Paca was arrested in a follow-up operation.

The 16-year-old boy had stab wounds in his body was was brought by police to the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC).

In an interview, Paca denied that he was was involved in the killing of the taxi driver.

He pointed to his companion Jerry as the one stabbed the driver.

But according to SPO3 Rey Cuyos, the boy also pointed to Paca as the assailant.

According to Paca, they both went to barangay Apas to visit a friend.

But when they were about to get off the taxi, said Paca, the boy stabbed the driver who fought back and stabbed the youth.

The taxi driver was already dead when policemen arrived.

Paca said the boy had confided that he had financial problems.
