THE Intellectual Property Office (IPO) of the Philippines, in cooperation with the Department of Trade and Industry in Central Visayas (DTI-7), will conduct a seminar on Strategic Management and Use of Intellectual Property Rights by Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises on Nov. 17 and 18 at 8:30 a.m. Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino in barangay Lahug.

The seminar will help SMEs come up with basic strategies on how they can effectively manage and utilize the intellectual property system to address their needs.

Experts from the World Intellectual Property Organization, European Patent Office and the United States Patent and Trademark Office will be the resource speakers.

A strategic management of intellectual property rights could address SME’s core requirements: access to finance, access to markets and access to technology.

After the seminar, there will be signing of the memorandum of understanding between the IP Philippines and Cebu GTH, Cebu FAME, Chamber of Furniture Industries of the Philippines and San Carlos Seminary.

A press conference will also be held on Nov. 17 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sidra room of Waterfront Hotel.

In the afternoon, the Intellectual Property Philippines Satellite Office will be inaugurated at the DTI-7 office on Osmeña Boulevard, Cebu City.
