PDI man wins US award

Philippine Daily Inquirer Entertainment columnist Ruben V. Nepales won third place, best columnist in the international journalism category, at the recent 54th Annual Southern California Journalism Awards.

Nepales won for his PDI column, “Only IN Hollywood.” Nepales’ spouse, Janet, was also a finalist in the same category.

Presented by the Los Angeles Press Club, the winners were chosen by press clubs across the US. Finalists were selected from a record 750 entries to the contest, which is one of the oldest and largest journalism competitions in the US.

Nepales is the author of the book, “My Filipino Connection: The Philippines in Hollywood,” launched on June 29.
