Japanese killed by Filipino hubby

CEBU CITY—A Japanese businesswoman was killed here on Monday by her jobless Filipino husband after she berated him for coming home in the wee hours of the morning in Lapu-Lapu City.

Kotoka Kajii Denila, 32, a native of Tokyo and mother of a 9-month-old girl, died at the Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital hours after she was allegedly stabbed repeatedly by her husband, Dexter Louie Denila, 27.

Denila was arrested by police several hours after he left home in Dominique Subdivision in Barangay Basak. The two were married in April 2011.

Dexter was drunk when he came home past 2 a.m., said PO2 Winston Ybañez, Lapu-Lapu City police investigator.

“The victim allegedly scolded the suspect for coming home late,” Ybañez said.
