Mini-grants available for Asian American youth voter registration

/ 04:00 AM September 08, 2014

ARLINGTON, Virginia – An organization trying to mobilize Asian Americans and Pacific Islander participation in the coming midterm elections is offering “mini-grants” to youth and students conducting voter registration drives in their communities or campuses.

APIAVote https://apiavote.org/ announced the deadline for grant applicants as September 12.

The group warned that among youth, only 45 percent turned out in the 2012 elections, and among Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, only 56 percent were registered to vote in 2012.

It said that youth voter registration and actual turnout in the midterm elections will be crucial in addressing issues such as student debt, college affordability and jobs. (Applications for a mini-grant .)
