Coast Guard rescues 2 Filipinos heading to Tawi-Tawi
MANILA, Philippines – At least two Filipinos who left Sabah for Tawi-Tawi have been rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard.
The two passengers were identified as Jul Ibba, 50, and Gafur Rudjin, 22, both residents of Tawi-Tawi.
They were on a banca “Love Story” when they were rescued by a PCG vessel BRP Edsa that was conducting maritime patrol at the borderline of Sabah last Monday at about 8:45a.m.
The two were said to be working at a palm oil refinery in Hanablas, Sabah for almost two months without any legal documents. They said they left Sabah due to the tension in Lahad Datu, the PCG said in a statement Tuesday.
The two had a debriefing before they were turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Tawi-Tawi.
