SF Consulate General partners with INQUIRER.net to promote OAV

MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, representing all the Philippine Foreign Service Posts in the United States, has partnered with INQUIRER.net to promote Overseas Absentee Voting (OAV) registration to all Kababayans in the US and the world.

From April 1 to October 31, a button ad link on OAV will appear on INQUIRER.net, the most visited news website by overseas Filipinos. The link will direct the user to https://www.philippinesusa.org/philippines/oav-registration-main/, which contains the required forms and frequently asked questions and answers on OAV.

Consul General Marciano A. Paynor, Jr. thanked INQUIRER.net’s support, which would greatly boost efforts to encourage overseas Filipinos to register for OAV and give them the capability to exercise their right to vote and chart the political future of the Philippines.

“The media, no doubt, is an important partner in empowering our Kababayans to be an informed and pro-active citizenry.  My special thanks go to Ms. Esther Chavez of INQUIRER.net for giving us an opportunity to reach out to as many kababayans (compatriots) as possible and encourage them to register and vote,” Paynor said.

Filipino citizens or dual citizens, of at least 18 years of age, are encouraged to register as overseas absentee voters so that they may also exercise their constitutionally protected right of suffrage.  To register, visit the Consulate General at its main office or at its outreach locations, and bring a copy of the latest Philippine Passport for Filipino citizens, or Oath of Allegiance or Identification Certificate for dual citizens.
