6 Chinese, 6 Filipinos arrested for kidnapping
MANILA, Philippines — Six Chinese and six Filipinos were arrested in Sto. Tomas, Batangas, on Sunday for reportedly kidnapping a Chinese businessman in Parañaque earlier this month, according to the Philippine National Police.
Citing a report from its Anti-Kidnapping Group, the PNP said the kidnap victim, who was taken from his condominium unit in Parañaque on July 1, was also rescued.

The victim’s family in China reportedly paid ransom for his release, transferring an unconfirmed amount of money to a cryptocurrency account provided by his captors, the PNP added.
It said it was conducting follow-up operations for the arrest of other suspects. —Faith Argosino
