Marcos appeals for peaceful resolution in Middle East conflict

In commemoration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appealed for a “peaceful resolution” to the conflict in the Middle East.

MANILA, Philippines — In commemoration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appealed for a “peaceful resolution” to the conflict in the Middle East.

In a statement on Wednesday, Marcos emphasized that “diplomacy remains the cornerstone of achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.”

“We recognize that the conflict can only be resolved through diplomatic engagement, dialogue, and comprehensive negotiations rooted in international law,” he added.

The president added that he is “gravely concerned over the catastrophic humanitarian situation” in Gaza and the mounting hostilities in the Middle East.

“We urge all parties to refrain from escalating the violence and to work towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict,” Marcos said.

“We condemn all attacks against civilians and civilian structures that have resulted in an alarming number of casualties, particularly women and children, and restricted access to food, water, medicine, and other basic needs,” he added.

Furthermore, Marcos called for “rapid, safe, unimpeded, and sustained humanitarian access” to all those displaced by the conflict.

Meanwhile, Marcos said that the Philippine government extends its full support for all initiatives that aim to revive the peace process and achieve a lasting and just solution to the Middle East conflict.

“We urge all parties to work towards a peaceful resolution to the conflict, with a view to realizing the two-state solution,” he said.
