Shiela Guo's contempt order lifted

MANILA, Philippines — The Senate panel on women lifted on Tuesday its contempt order against Shiela Guo, also known as Chinese national Zhang Mier.

During the Senate’s 14th and last hearing on dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo’s ties to Philippine offshore gaming operators, Sen. Risa Hontiveros moved to lift the order.

“Shiela Guo, the Senate’s contempt order on you is lifted and I direct the [Office of the Sergeant at Arms] to transfer your custody to the Bureau of Immigration pursuant to the mission order issued by the Bureau against you,” said Hontiveros.

Shiela is earlier tagged to be Alice’s sister.

Similar to Alice, Shiela is a subject of the upper chamber’s arrest order for refusing to appear in the committee on women’s hearing on July 10.

She was taken into custody by the Senate after her arrest in Indonesia and repatriation to the Philippines in August.

Shiela is believed to be Alice’s co-incorporator in at least seven of the latter’s businesses.
