Singapore president to arrive in PH on Thursday
MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is set to welcome Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam during the latter’s three-day visit in the country on Thursday, August 15.
According to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), Shanmugaratnam and his spouse Jane Yumiko Ittogi will pay a courtesy call on Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos at Malacañang Palace.
PCO said Marcos intends to “reaffirm the Philippine government’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with Singapore” during Shanmugaratnam’s visit.
“The two countries will continue to undertake cooperation, in both bilateral and multilateral milieus, including in the fields of energy and healthcare, among others,” the PCO said in a statement.
After the bilateral meeting, the two leaders are then expected to witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding involving the recruitment of Filipino healthcare workers and collaborations on climate financing.
