MANILA, Philippines — The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) is preparing for the surge of passengers waiting at airports due to a global outage of technology giant Microsoft on Friday.
In a statement, Caap said there is already congestion of passengers at the Davao International Airport Passenger Terminal Building as of 6 p.m. after the system of budget carrier Cebu Pacific was affected by the incident.

It said that two flights were already canceled while some were delayed.
“Caap is activating irregular operations protocols and closely coordinating with the airlines, Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group, and Office for Transportation Security,” it said.

Airport personnel are also adding more seats for passengers, and staff at the Malasakit Help Desk and medical teams are on standby in the departure area, the aviation authority added.
In a separate statement, the Manila International Airport Authority (Miaa) said that the global outage has affected the systems of budget carriers Cebu Pacific and AirAsia.
International carriers in the Philippines, on the other hand, remain unaffected as of 4 p.m.
