BACOLOD CITY, Philippines—Direct flights from South Korea to Negros Occidental that were seen as a tourism breakthrough for the province will be short-lived.

The twice-a-week week chartered ZestAir flights ended Saturday, said ZestAir director Arturo Alejandrino.

The chartered flights started on January 7, ferrying tourists from South Korea who came to Negros Occidental to play golf.

Alejandrino said the firm would try to explore the possibility of resuming the flights.

“Let us not be discouraged. It is not the fault of Negros Occidental and Bacolod. It is just that the tourist market in Korea has softened,” he said. Carla P. Gomez, Inquirer Visayas
