Two remaining Filipino crewmen of MV True Confidence now back in PH

MANILA, Philippines — The two injured Filipino crewmen of ill-fated MV True Confidence are now back in the Philippines, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) confirmed on Thursday.

The two Filipino seafarers suffered “serious injuries” when True Confidence was struck by a Houthi-launched missile on March 6, but were declared “fit for travel” on Wednesday according to DMW.

“They arrived via a chartered medical evacuation flight at 6:45 this morning — March 14, 2024. The two were received by a medical team and taken to hospital where they will continue their recovery. They have also been reunited with their families in hospital,” said DMW.

No other details were provided as of writing. DMW, however, noted that the Filipino seafarers and their families “have requested privacy.”

The missile attack perpetrated by Houthi rebels killed two Filipinos on board True Confidence. DMW earlier said that salvaging operations are underway to retrieve the remains of the two.
