MANILA, Philippines — Almost all of the rotation and resupply (Rore) missions for the BRP Sierra Madre in the West Philippine Sea in 2023 had a presence of Chinese vessels.

Navy spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea Commodore Roy Vincent Trinidad said there were 14 Rore missions last year for the military outpost grounded in Ayungin Shoal.

“For the presence, I would say, with a certain degree of certainty, almost all — if not all — has a presence of at least one Coast Guard and maritime militia,” Trinidad said during a regular press briefing in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
