WASHINGTON D.C., United States — Philippine President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos on Tuesday met with US Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Dough Emhoff at their official residence at Number One Observatory Circle.

This is the second meeting of President Marcos and US Vice President Harris after the latter visited the Philippines in November last year.

Harris said she and Marcos shared the same passion on these issues.

Marcos, for his part, told Harris his trip to the US has allowed him to strengthen the ties between their two nations.

He thanked the US Vice President for “laying the groundwork” for his US visit.

“I think that has given us the very attractive opportunity to continue to strengthen that relationship between our two countries in the face, in the context of all of the difficulties and complexities, the rising tensions in our region and the world,” Marcos said.

“Once again, we turn to our American partners, our only treaty partner in the world,” he added.
