Over 700 Filipinos in UK, Ireland infected with COVID-19 — PH envoy

MANILA, Philippines — Over 700 Filipinos in the United Kingdom and Ireland have been infected with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Philippine Ambassador to the UK Antonio Lagdameo said Thursday.

According to Lagdameo, 675 of them came from the UK while 63 were from Ireland.

Of the cases among Filipinos in UK, 525 have recovered while 57 died. In Ireland, 57 Filipinos were able to defeat the virus although two have died.

The diplomat reported that as of Wednesday, Oct, 28, there are 917,575 total coronavirus infections in the UK, including 45,365 deaths.

Meanwhile, Ireland so far has 58,767 total cases, 1,890 of whom have died while 23,364 recovered.

Currently, over 44 million people worldwide have been infected with the respiratory disease that was first detected in Hubei, China late last year.
