DFA: COVID-19 hits 29 more Filipinos abroad; 22 others recover

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Monday reported a spike in both the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases and recoveries among Filipinos overseas.

According to the DFA, 29 additional infections were reported among Filipinos abroad, pushing the total number of cases to 10,467.

DFA figures also showed that 22 more Filipinos overseas recovered from COVID-19. The total number of recoveries now stands at 6,676.

Meanwhile, DFA reported one new fatality in the Middle East, which brought the death toll to 792.

In the Philippines, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 307,288 on Monday after 3,073 additional infections were recorded.

Of the number, 252,665 have recovered while 5,381 have died.

Globally, over 32.7 million individuals have so far been infected by the new coronavirus, which originated from Wuhan City in China’s Hubei province late last year. More than 991,000 have died from the disease across the world.
