MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Saturday confirmed that it probed the sexual harassment allegations against a former Philippine ambassador to South Korea.

DFA said that in February, the Embassy of the Philippines in Seoul received a complaint of sexual harassment against the ambassador while he was in Manila on official business.

“The complaint was immediately referred by the Embassy to the Department of Foreign Affairs which tasked the Committee on Decorum and Investigation (CODI) to look into the allegations,” DFA said in a statement.

The complainant and the ambassador cooperated with the proceedings done by the investigative committee, it added.

DFA further said the former envoy, whose name was withheld by the agency, later tendered his resignation effectively March 16.

DFA’s confirmation comes after South Korean media reported that the former ambassador was placed on Interpol’s wanted list in relation to the sexual harassment allegations against him.
