Vessel from China under quarantine in Bataan as precaution vs nCoV

/ 02:44 PM February 11, 2020

LIMAY, Bataan –– A cargo vessel from China, which arrived in Morong town on Jan. 21, has been subjected to quarantine following orders to prohibit the entry into all seaports of foreign maritime vessels.

Lt. Airland Lapitan, commander of the Philippine Coast Guard station here, said on Tuesday that the vessel is carrying crude oil and has around 80 crew members.

It was not immediately known where in China the vessel came from.

Lapitan said the local coast guard is strictly complying with the guidelines of the Department of Health and the Department of Transportation, which include barring the entry of foreign vessels to reduce the risk of novel coronavirus (nCoV) contamination via the ports./lzb
